Delivering Personalised Care and Support during your Pre-and Post-natal Journey

What we do

Each pregnancy is unique and for every baby to have the best start in life, they need to have the best antenatal and post-natal care and attention.

We are here to help pregnant women and birthing people, their babies and families, receive personalised and safe Maternity and Neonatal services.

Across the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin communities, your Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) supports key Maternity Service teams and local councils to review outcomes, monitor feedback, implement improvements and ensure quality standards are complied with.

We also want to provide pregnant women and birthing people with the tools to help them be healthier during their pregnancy and have easier access to information that is tailored to their circumstances.

Our Equity and Equality Action Plan

Our work also involves transforming our digital services and offering and bringing to life a five-year Equity and Equality Action Plan.

We believe all women, birthing people and babies who use our Local Maternity and Neonatal services should receive personalised, supportive and informed care that is delivered with respect and compassion.

Studies show that women, birthing people and babies from Black, Asian and Mixed Ethnic backgrounds and deprived areas are at risk of poorer outcomes. Therefore, our Equity and Equality Plan outlines the action that is being taken to address the inequalities and close the gap.

Within the plan, we are also tackling discrimination and abuse against our staff across the system.

How we do it

With around 5,000 babies being born across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin each year, we know your care is not a one size fits all.

Our vision is for Maternity Services in our area to be safe, accessible, personalised and fair.

Therefore, we put collaboration at the heart of our services and ensure that everyone has a voice.

This includes your local midwives, obstetricians, neonatal staff, hospital managers and commissioners, public health agencies, educators, perinatal mental health providers, GPs, service users and those within our Maternity & Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP).
